ART 10/15 – 10/16: Pixel Art II

DESCRIPTION

We will discuss the following:

  1. How to create pixel art in Google Sheets

  2. Introduction to pixel art assignment

TAKE NOTES during class discussions. You will submit notes for credit each week. If you are absent, you must watch the Zoom video to get the notes.

If you were absent to any of the meetings this week, go to Google Classroom, where the recorded meetings have been posted under Classwork>Recorded Zoom Meetings.

CLASS ACTIVITIES

  1. Play Color Wheel Bingo (extra credit) – assignment is in Google Classroom.  Use Kami to open it. Choose a card and write classmates’ names on it as you find items on their color wheels. 

  2. Go over requirements for pixel art assignment, which is due on October 26

  3. Instructions: * Rename the file pd_last_first_pixelart * Your art must be of medium complexity – object should have some shading and not be too simple. * If you are copying art from the internet, change it in some way to make it your own. Change colors, expressions, and details. * Your art must completely fill the above square, which is 32×32 pixels in area. You can go bigger if needed. * Add a background color first before you begin designing * Objects must be big enough to fill almost the entire square * Use between 5-10 colors in your design * CTRL+R will fill a row with color (place the color and drag across first) * CTRL+D will fill a column with color (place the color first then drag across to select area) * If you need to add new colors, watch the tutorial videos that are attached to this assignment.

Pixel Art Examples

Create artwork that measures at least 32×32 pixels (1024 pixels total). Your artwork should be of medium complexity and should have between 5-10 colors. Don’t forget to add details to your background. Examples of appropriate art are below.

HOMEWORK

Instructions

  1. Go to Google Classroom > CLASSWORK > ART > Final Pixel Art

  2. Rename the file pd_last_first_pixelart

  3. Your art must be of medium complexity – object should have some shading and not be too simple.

  4. If you are copying art from the internet, change it in some way to make it your own. Change colors, expressions, and details.

  5. Your art must completely fill the above square, which is 32×32 pixels in area. You can go bigger if needed, but delete the original box– ask me how.

  6. Add a background color first before you begin designing

  7. Objects must be big enough to fill almost the entire square

  8. Use between 5-10 colors in your design

  9. * If you need to add new colors, watch these tutorial videos * CTRL+R will fill a row with color (place the color and drag across first) * CTRL+D will fill a column with color (place the color first then drag across to select area)

Color Emotions and Schemes Slideshow past due

  1. In your color and emotion slideshow from last class, add the following slides and find artwork in Google Arts and Culture that includes these schemes. Include different artists and mediums

  2. Monochromatic

  3. Warm

  4. Cool

  5. Analogous

  6. Complementary

  7. Triad
