ART 11/12- 11/13: Mandala Patterns

DESCRIPTION

We will discuss the following:

  1. How to create patterns for mandalas

TAKE NOTES during class discussions. You will submit notes for credit each week. If you are absent, you must watch the Zoom video to get the notes.

If you were absent to any of the meetings this week, go to Google Classroom, where the recorded meetings have been posted under Classwork>Recorded Zoom Meetings.

  11. We will create a series of patterns that use the following elements of art:

  12. Line

  13. Shape

  14. Pattern

  15. Value

  16. Patterns can be made by doing the following

  17. Creating concentric shapes

  18. Alternating elements

  19. Rotating elements

  20. Using value (shading)

  21. Creating texture through line and shape

  22. Varying your line thickness

  23. Using the half-step pattern technique

Step Two: Design patterns

Gather pattern ideas from online. Create at least 10 intricate pattern ideas. Submit your ideas in Google Classroom under “mandala patterns”

HOMEWORK

  1. Create a minimum of 10 mandala pattern ideas on a piece of paper.  Collect 4 mandala ideas from the internet.  Turn in your ideas and patterns in a Google Slide in Google Classroom in the “mandala pattern” assignment.  Due Monday, November 16

  2. Finish creating your circle with 16- 24 divisions and at least two inner circles.  Watch the videos linked below for help. past due!
